Ephesians 2:4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
What is mercy – “undeserved forgiveness.” We are sinners….we have done wrong….we deserve to die. But God loved us so much He came up with a plan to extend to us His mercy.
Mercy for you and me was obtained by Christ death upon the cross. Jesus….was beaten….spit upon….had a crown of thorns placed on His head and was crucified as a criminal. He did not deserve to die….but it was the only way to bring the perfect plan of salvation to man.
Who is this mercy for? His mercy is for all. All races…..male or female….all ages old and young. We cannot earn this gift of mercy. We cannot buy His mercy. We do not receive His mercy by doing good deeds. We obtain His mercy simply by accepting it.
No sin is to big that God won’t forgive. Zacchaeus was dishonest and a cheat. Mary Magdalene was demon possessed. Paul was the persecutor of the Christian, throwing them into prison and killing some. When each of these people repented and ask for God’s mercy--they were forgiven.
We have all sinned. We are all guilty for our sin. The punishment for our sin should be death, cast forever in the lake of fire. But God grants mercy to the sinner who comes and ask for mercy. No matter what they have done. He wipes our record clean.
How do you come to Christ?
Admit you have sinned.
Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Believe in Christ.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Confess your sins.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
When you do this, God extends His mercy and forgives you.
Have a great Easter!
