How big is your faith?

Many Christians walk in limited faith. It is easy to have faith when it concerns the little things, the things that we can see what the end result will be, the things we can control. But when it comes to trusting Him for the big things, the things we cannot see what the end result will be, the things we can’t control, the things only God can do, our faith is weak. What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 "What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. " Faith is: the confident assurance that what God says is going to happen, will happen. Believing everything God said He would do is going to happen. Faith is stepping o

Jesus Calms Our Storms

Mark 4:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" Jesus and His disciples

Greener Pastures

Have you ever heard, “the grass is greener on the other side?” What does this mean? When someone is not satisfied with what is going on in their life they assume that there are better things in other places. People always think they would be happier in a different set of circumstances, so they choose to go after what seems to look good. I think about Lot in Genesis 13. In this story Lot and his uncle Abraham lived in the same land. After a few years together, the land could not support them for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together, and this caused problems between Lot’s herdsman and Abraham’s herdsman. So, Abraham said to Lot, “we need to split up you get

Exalting Self

Do you think too highly of yourself? Do you look at others and make a statement like “I am a better Christian than they are?” Throughout Scripture, we are told to be humble and not to exalt ourselves. One of those times is found in Luke 18:10-14: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' 13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

Hearing from God!

Recently while my wife and I were on vacation we attended a church service, and at the end of the service, a lady we did not know who attended this church said: "I have a word for you". She spoke words that encouraged us, words that gave us direction, which confirmed to us regarding some things we had been praying about. After she had finished we thanked her for being obedient to the Holy Spirit. The lady spoke to us through the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit found in 1 Corinthians 12:1-10. The sad thing is in many churches today the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not in operation. We no longer allow time for this to happen or we think it is something that only happened in the past. My prayer i
