Removing the Dross

God wants to refine us! He wants to remove the dross in our life as dross is removed from metal. Many people don’t understand that pure gold is soft and pliable free from corrosion. It is when gold is mixed with other metals (copper, nickel, iron) that it becomes hard. The higher the percentage of foreign metals, the harder the gold becomes. How do you take gold back to its pure form? The first step is grinding it into powder and mixing it with a substance called flux. Then the mixture is placed in a furnace and melted by intense heat. The alloys and impurities are drawn to the flux and rise to the surface. The gold, which is heavier, remains on the bottom. The impurities or “dross” is then

It started with an idea to send help and exploded into a venture of weeks of work, and 3 full semi trucks. Steve Shoff, the drummer for the worship team and sound manager at Cornerstone Assembly of God, is the truck boss and lead truck driver for Rounds Trucking Llc in Idaho Falls. The old saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me” is so untrue. Negative words that are spoken to somebody can inflict deep wounds and do more damage to them than physical blows. Negative words that are spoken to someone can be something one carries with them the rest of their life. The words we speak to our spouse, children, and family members can wound them for life, it can affect the way they live their life and the way they treat their future family members. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Our words hold the power of life and death according to this verse, so we must be care

They go to church, listen to the preacher, believe what is preached, they pray once in a while but mostly when they need something and once in a while when they have the time they read the Bible but never spend quality time alone with Him. They never take time to know Him. God is waiting for you to make the decision to draw close to Him and have a vibrant relationship with Him. He has so much to show you and teach you. He wan

The question asked by many Christians today is “do I need to go to church?” It isn’t a question that needs to be asked because Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” This scripture says we are to meet together and we are to attend church services. Notice the last part of that verse says we should meet even more as the coming of the Lord gets closer. Since scripture answered that question the next question that many ask is, “can I just stay home and get church from television?” Let’s look at Acts 2:42-47: “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching an
