It is common for us to think that at the core, we are good people, and that is what really counts. The Bible tells us that we are born in sin, and that we all have need of mercy and forgiveness of our sin. If we claim we have not sinned, we deceive ourselves. (Romans 3:12, 23; Romans 11:32; 1 John 1:8)
There is only one way to receive salvation and forgiveness of our sin, and that is to fully believe and commit our lives to Jesus. It is with our hearts that we believe. (Romans 10:9)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Our lives will be changed, because we will desire to please Him and walk in obedience to His teaching and guidance. (1 John 1:8-10)
